In February we went for a weekend to Rome, the eternal city. And eternity at least by human measures is popping up everywhere in from of antique buildings' remains in more or less good condition.
Of course we went down a shortlist of sights. The Forum Romanum and the Colosseum are like walking though a door of time: it was a strange feeling for me to be amidst these man made structures that have seen human eras passing by. Today it seems difficult to make infrastructure projects within half a generation of our beings. But the Colosseum built in only 10 years or so makes me doubt about our capabilities as an entire civilisation.
Imagining the coordination, the design capabilities and the logistic challenges for such a project makes me feel humble.
From a photographic point of view it is quite a challenge to capture the greatness of all these impressions on a picture. I opted again for black & white for these pictures as the colour of the hazy light were not the best.
